The Light of the World Initiative

The Light of the World Initiative

Matthew 5:14-16 KJV

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

After sundown, cities that sit on hills are hard to hide. Their lights illuminate the landscape. The Light of the World Initiative is a call to realize that Christ is most important in our lives. By doing so, we radiate His glory to others, showing them His likeness.

LWI is a personal initiative. It’s something that needs to start with me each day. The LORD’s mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Choose Jesus! Here are five ways we can glow 🌞 to glorify our Father in heaven:

1.) We should explain who our Light (John 8:12) is to others. When the time comes to witness for Christ, speak up (Genesis 40:8). It’s too easy to be quiet! The story of Philip and the Ethiopian in Acts 8:26-40 is one of my favorites!

2.) We should not just follow the crowd. ⚠ “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14 KJV)

3.) We should never extinguish the Holy Spirit, 🔥 who lives inside of us (1 Thessalonians 5:19).

4.) We should not let sin weaken our light. We can always turn to God. 🙏 He gives us the strength to resist the temptation to sin (1 Corinthians 10:13).

5.) We should recognize the needs of others. We all have basic human needs: food and water, clothing and shelter, and rest. But we also need love, who God is (1 John 4:16).

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Let us be a candle 🕯 of that truth, put on a candlestick; that giveth light unto the rest of the world!
